Support the QSHE Lead Advisor with the creation, delivery and monitoring of contract QSHE plans which underpins the QSHE strategy and supports the achievement of operational objectives.
Build and develop effective, collaborative working relationships with Contract managers in order to influence the local people QSHE agenda and activities.
Work with contract managers to ensure the development of the behavioural safety culture within BU, and to develop a motivational and rewarding working environment that will facilitate the achievement of business objectives.
Facilitate and deliver QSHE calendar events into the business ensuring robustness and consistency and continuous improvement e.g IIF road shows, Managers updates, IOSH training etc.
Identify mid to long term training needs and priorities, coaching managers to identify training requirements from individual PADPs and feeding into the corporate Training Needs Analysis and Training Plan development.
Identify mid to long term resource requirements and feed into the corporate Resource Plan.
Maintain the local plan and monitor headcount, liaising with the HR Resourcing team to ensure recruitment activity reflects the business need.
Support the QSHE Lead Advisor in building the QSHE succession plan to support the corporate succession strategy, and help identify and develop high potential people within the contracts.
Champion the use of QSHE IMS and mentor managers to enable them to maintain compliant contracts – identifying trends and delivering initiatives and interventions to bring about compliance performance improvements.
Develop the contract managers’ QSHE capability and compliance management competence, professionalism and consistency of approach in line with the QSHE IMS Framework through coaching, mentoring and delivery of local training events.
Coach and mentor the line management population in the application of QSHE policy and practice.
Where appropriate, support line managers with the management of complex/high risk QSHE issues / concerns through advice and coaching, ensuring approach is pragmatic and within an acceptable level of business risk.
Provide QSHE support with high risk activities to provide a cost effective, customer focussed solution to deliver the required performance criteria.
Support the local implementation of QSHE cultural change initiatives and embed organisational values and behaviours in the contracts.
Work with other QSHE Advisers to share best practice and raise QSHE policy/practice issues.
Ensure the QSHE Lead Adviser receives detailed monthly reports to inform the shaping of QSHE strategy, policy and product development.
Support the contact managers with selection of Trained Trainers / Interserve Behavioural Safety Coaches as appropriate.
Drive the delivery of core QSHE processes into the contracts: Support the QSHE Lead Advisor in monitoring of QSHE compliance levels and fostering the relationship between the business and the QSHE team to ensure continuous improvement and regular reviews of contract and external customers needs.
Support and encourage positive employee communication processes with emphasis on engagement and communication at all levels. Build constructive working relationships locally with Site Safety Representatives, Trade Union Safety Representatives, leading or supporting local meetings when required.
Support QSHE initiatives and projects outside of assigned contracts, as a member of the wider QSHE Business Partnering team.
Strong partnering relationship with contract managers. Good working relationship with the QSHE Lead Advisor and other QSHE team members for allocated contract areas – informing and influencing upwards with respect to contract compliance issues and priorities, sharing best practice, collaborating on delivery of BU initiatives and QSHE calendar events, and monitoring of QSHE compliance delivery and customer relationship management.
From time to time, working relationships with other QSHE Manager’s to support projects and activities in other parts of the business.
Interface when appropriate with ‘Centres of Excellence’ roles regarding delivery of top-down and bottom-up QSHE initiatives.
Liaison with the QSHE Advisors and Head of QSHE regarding complex/high risk QSHE cases, and collaboration with the latter with support for and enforcement visits or investigations.
Collaboration with the business development team regarding bid support and mobilisation assistance.
Collaboration with Corporate QSHE Team to ensure effective delivery of QSHE policies and processes within their contract areas.
Authority to develop contract QSHE plans, goals and objectives for their assigned contract areas.
Recommends strategies to improve QSHE support for their assigned contract areas.
Recommends recruitment and training requirements for personnel within assigned contract areas.
Manages major accident, incident investigations within assigned contract areas.

CMIOSH or equivalent
Quality Assurance experience.
Environmental Management.
Detailed understanding of preferably all aspects of QSHE Management system.
Demonstrable track record of devising and implementing successful QSHE compliant contracts with bottom line contribution.
Solid and up to date knowledge of practical QSHE principles and practices as well as QSHE legislation.
An understanding of performance measurement and delivery of performance improvement interventions.
Experience of supporting organisation change, including mobilisations support and TUPE transfers.
Project planning and management experience an advantage.
Track record of operating as an QSHE Generalist, ideally with good business partnering experience.
Degree in Occupational Health Safety or equivalent.
NEBOSH Diploma or NEBOSH Certificate (working towards Diploma or NVQ Level 4). or equivalent.
